In this anime three characters stand out above the others: Ligh, a very intelligent young man who becomes a sinister anonymous killer by receiving the powers of a god, L, a gifted genius who has the mission of discovering the killer and Mass, a beautiful young model who falls in love with Light.
However unimportant the twists and turns, in a moment Misa becomes the most powerful character in the plot, but she is manipulated, subdued and used by Light.
Misa's love is sincere, but one-sided. Light only seeks to occupy his power to take advantage in his fight with L and his mission.
And here it is obvious that it is not the problem of Misa, but the masculine ideology that forges his image in a weak and submissive way. And Light, who no matter how intelligent, does not lag behind being macho by manipulating sincere love.
They do not set goals in their narrative, everything about her revolves around Light, even her life. In addition to the sexualization of her aesthetics.
This becomes disappointing, although it can be interpreted as a metaphor to the male tyranny that pronounces the ideas of romantic love or as one of the anime of this genre that with the excuse of the male audience, stereotypes and sexualizes female characters.
Unfortunately, the second one makes more sense to me.
Fortunately, it is no longer considered for children! I have not seen the anime but it is sad that sexism is camouflaged in romantic love
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to see anime, but I never found one that caught my attention
